Michael Soussan can't remember a time when he wanted any other life than that of a diplomat. After joining the United Nations as a program coordinator in the Oil-for-Food Programme, Michael learns fairly quickly that diplomacy in his new career often involves back alley deals and corruption. While investigating the murder of the previous program coordinator, Michael soon comes across a major scandal related to the oil reserves in Iraq and corruption at the highest levels. He must find out the truth about all of the players involved, including his boss, Pasha, who is a veteran diplomat in the program. Michael must uncover lies and reveal secrets quickly if he wants to come out of the investigation alive.
